Bamburgh Castle is situated on the coast next to the quaint village of Bamburgh. It is a former Royal Palace, Norman stronghold, crown residence and the recreation of Victorian innovator and engineer William Armstrong. It was also used as a location in the film, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
You can visit the castle, explore the village, and walk on the fabulously sandy beach. We like to park in Bamburgh at the large carpark, walk along the beach to Seahouses, eat fish and chips overlooking the harbour and then walk back to
Bamburgh on the coastal path. It is a round walking trip of approximately 7 miles.
